Rejecting Correcting

2 Timothy 3:16-17: All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

If we do not permit Scripture to correct us we will not profit from it. If we do not permit Scripture to correct us we will not have correct doctrine. If we do not permit Scripture to correct us we will not be righteous. If we do not permit Scripture to correct us we will not be perfect. If we do not permit Scripture to correct us we will not be furnished unto good works. If we do not permit Scripture to correct us we will not be able to do any good works. The first and most important thing that must be corrected about us mortals is that we must be made alive from the dead.

Romans 6:13: Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

Romans 6:11: Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

A dead man can do nothing. One who is spiritually dead can do nothing spiritual.

John 5:24: Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

1 John 3:14: We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.

Here is how to pass from death unto life: Receive the Lord Jesus into your heart.

John 1:12: But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

1 John 5:11-12: And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

These passages speak about eternal life. Eternal life is different from physical life. For one thing it lasts longer. For another it is superior in quality. In any way that any man compares the quality of physical life with the quality of eternal life, eternal life is better.

John 10:10b: . . . I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

When one has passed from death unto life he has a chance to do many things that he had no chance of doing before. He can have Christ living in Him. He has a chance to have all the corrections that God wants to make in Him in this life and the next. He has a chance to be perfect. In fact, he has the guarantee of being made completely perfect at the coming of Christ.

Jude 24: Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,

If we died physically three minutes after we received Jesus, we will have had a more abundant life than if we lived a hundred years without Him.

Romans 8:18: For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
